"State Farm will not advertise during Super Bowl amid Los Angeles fires"

“Our focus is firmly on providing support to the people of Los Angeles,” said a spokesperson for the brand in a statement. “We will not be advertising during the game”.

Alarm besides not to advertise during the Super Bowl  saying that they will  instead help/ support customers impacted by the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. This statement came after the company faced backlashes from canceling  72,000 policies for people who lost their homes in Los Angeles.

It is a good move/ strategy for the current standing of canceling those policies since they're willing to help all the people who lost their homes. They indeed lost their credibility that they claimed over the years and a lot of people might want to cancel their policies with State Farm and back out because for the past half a decade they were claiming “like a good neighbor State Farm is there” and now “ like a bad neighbor, they're not there”.

They will obviously face many challenges plus lawsuits for canceling the agreement they had with those customers whose policies were canceled last year. and we haven't really seen or heard of the “help” they were talking about that they were going to provide to the people of Los Angeles.

For the past two decades we've seen an increase in wildfires/menman fires or any other natural disasters and still not seeing a tragic event might occur shows that they were not prepared for anything that could occur in the future. LA fire showed us that State Farm indeed was not capable of standing up for the claims they had over the past few years.

like I said they will face a downhill for maybe a couple of years maybe more but right now their best move is to help those people in LA. They could provide temporary shelters to them and provide food or daily necessities that  people need. Fighting a man-made disaster is not really easy especially a fire cuz it's unpredictable and it can move faster than any interpretation by experts. And choosing not to air an ad for the Super Bowl was a good decision cuz they could have faced much more backlashes if decided to fund that ad cuz Super Bowl ads I'm very expensive(millions)

If I was in that position I would make sure to at least promise what I said about helping those people to the best of my abilities. because that's what's going to stop people from leaving and keep believing in State Farm.

It does sound hypocritical but I would too cancel those plans because it's not financially good for the company. and now that it's done I would provide whatever people need to support themselves.

First I would never claim anything without foreseeing any possible disasters or backlashes from any of the bad reactions I might get from the foreseeable future. For example an earthquake  that destroys the whole West Coast  would I be able to Stand up to those policies that I claimed maybe not. so I would add  it to the agreement because national disasters are tragedies that cannot be predicted.
